Are artists scared? Its complicated. AI could be an awesome tool in the right context. Its the profiteering, lack of ethical considerations and undermining of real people’s ability to support themselves thats the issue.

Studies are a tool for learning a craft and developing your own skills.

So it can’t even realistically be argued that artists are gatekeeping the ability to produce art because we’re really not.

The issue with using artists names and recreating their style is that it then creates ‘brand’ confusion and artists having to compete with something assumed to be their work. And that’s just plain shitty.

No one exists in a vacuum, and there will always be influence from existing work but an artist brings their own interpretations (2/?)

There are way to use AI images to get ideas and inspo but just typing in a prompt then printing it isn’t remotely the same thing as art.

The data sets they use contain millions of pieces of work that they don’t have permission to use and the original artists have no say in the matter and aren’t compensated in any way.

Artists also have their names used as prompts to deliberately imitate their work, this can create confusion and has been used maliciously against artists like @samdoesarts etc

The Secret Invasion Intro’s Ai tech they hired has a large body of Stable Diffusion work. If they used SD on the intro it traces back to the Laion Database. The Laion that is being sued by a photographer that wanted to opt out. Also SD being sued by Getty and a Class action.
