The nursing council of Nigeria has announced that all nurses must work for at least two years before they can have their documents processed if they plan to relocate abroad for work.

In my view, this is wrong, this is oppressive and it is totally unacceptable.

Nobody should be forced to stay or work in a country they do not want to.

It sounds like the government is using the council to force nurses to stay rather than sit down with the nurses to address the actual reasons why they are leaving the country.

Rather than pay nurses better;
Rather than make nursing education more accessible and attractive to many people; Rather than make nursing practice more enjoyable and fulfilling for nurses;

Their own nursing council is putting up lunatic legislation to drive its own nurses into frustration and depression.

Anyway, this is my own personal view that should the nurses decide to fight this in a law court and resist this clear madness, they wholeheartedly and completely have my complete support.

NIGERIAN NURSES LICENSE VERIFICATION SCANDAL |🇳🇬💊|🇳🇬❌🚩🆘

I am writing to you on behalf of the concerned Nigerian Nursing home and abroad regarding the unannounced closure of the nurses license verification portal for some months now.

We are deeply troubled by the lack of communication and transparency surrounding this decision.
As a regulated profession, Licence verification is very crucial criteria for any nurse to remain in practice across the globe and as well as a prerequisite for career advancement.

The sudden closure of the portal without prior notice has caused significant inconvenience and uncertainty among many nurses both in Nigeria and overseas, jeopardizing their ability to secure jobs or access certain career advancement opportunities.

A significant number of Nigerian nurses in diaspora, especially those in Canada and USA have been grossly affected by this action as they have been kept jobless for months owing to the fact that they were not able to provide evidence of their Nigerian licence authenticity from NMCN, which is prerequisite criteria when moving from province/state to another in these countries
Similarly a huge number of nurses in Nigeria and other parts of the world have been equally affected.
