"On a daily basis, we are tempted to put our trust in money instead of God. We are tempted to put our faith in money instead of God. We are tempted to have our lives revolve around money, instead of God the Creator."

What does this spirit of power look like when manifest in the life of a Christian?

Blessed are the poor,
but keep me from it.
Blessed are the meek,
but pass me the mic.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
but help us win the culture war.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
but let me be pure in image.
Is this how our prayers sound?
@FloridScott@godlywomanhood The feminine of proistemi (leader) and patroness/succorer by definition are not mutually exclusive descriptions of Phoebe.
They both apply.
Whether you like it or not,
a female doctor is still a doctor.
A female lawyer is still a lawyer.
A female leader is still a leader.
@erichoke Maybe, but kids go to school during the week right?
Most Sunday morning services are well after the time kids would typically be in school during the week.
@godlywomanhood I have never heard of one church that literally follows this scripture.
Even churches that are strongly patriarchal will not force women to “learn in silence” and will typically have many women who serve in teaching positions.
@brmorris@Ord_Off Being a Christian is not just about what I call myself, but what others call me.
You will know you are getting it right when other people see Christ in you.
If people instead know me for my politics, prejudices, status, or pretty much anything else; I have gotten it wrong.
I totally get this sentiment. For a while, I called myself a Christ-follower instead of a Christian.
Yet I eventually returned to the title.
I think in some ways it is because I realized that I too have not always represented Christianity well.
I’m not comfortable calling myself a “Christian” anymore.
I hold on to Jesus, but that word has been used to harm, kill, “other,” subjugate, control, manipulate, obfuscate, colonize, enslave.
🤬🤬🤬
If worship is a spiritual discipline, why do we have worship pastors?
We don’t have prayer pastors or fasting pastors.
Is it possible our concept of church community is a little too centered around music/performance as worship?
