What is your ultimate chase card from this set?
An open letter to every competitive Pokémon TCG Pocket player.
At Pokémon EUIC in London, Chris Brown, Pokémon's Director of Global Esports & Events, was asked about the future of competitive TCG Pocket.
His answer:
"With Pocket, what feels great for us right now is the Side Events, a casual way for people to meet up. There are no plans for it to be a main title."
No competitive scene. No ranked system. No esports. Just "a casual way for people to meet up."
Let that sit for a moment.
This is a game with 150M+ downloads. $1.3B+ in revenue. 2 billion battles played. The most successful mobile TCG launch in history. And the official position is: keep it casual.
Meanwhile, last weekend, 1,172 players from 45+ countries competed in a PGL tournament for $1,500 in prizes. 3,338 matches played in 2 days.
Nobody asked permission. Nobody waited for an official circuit.
The players decided this game deserved a competitive scene. So they built one.
PGL has been running tournaments for over a year. Thousands of matches. A community of players who take this game seriously, because someone should.
Now we're building the app. The full infrastructure that TCG Pocket was always missing.
Nintendo built the game. We're building the sport.
This isn't a protest. This is just reality, the best players in the world needed a home, and the people who made the game decided not to build one.
So we did.
If you've ever felt like the competitive side of this game was being ignored, you're not wrong. And you're not alone.
Welcome to PGL.
The league that was never supposed to exist, built by the players who refused to stop competing.

The staff worked nonstop. The Pokémon TCG Pocket community showed up like never before. This is the biggest tournament in PGL history, and it delivered.
Thank you to every player who trusted us with their time. Thank you to the judges who held it together. This community is the reason PGL exists.
GG to everyone who competed 🏆
It's just the beginning.
A new tournament is coming, and the Duels League has just started a new round in Discord🔥
Pokémon tournament coming to @Pumpfun
The TCG continues to see huge demand, but there is no on chain game that can basically connect the globe via E sports outside of $PGL
Built and battle tested with over 2.5k users & growing
Won’t take much for this to go viral
One app. One league. One $PGL token.

I remember holding coins for months before they reached a billion dollar market cap. I want to bring back that culture, and I look forward to making jeets suffer from selling too early so they think twice before doing it again.
We stopped talking about what we're going to build.
Here's what we already built.
First look at the PGL App 👇
Card browsing. Live trade feed.
Swipe-to-Trade matching. Messaging.
Collection management. Profile system.
All functional. All in the video.
Pokémon TCG Pocket has 150M+ installs and zero dedicated trading infrastructure. No competitive identity. No unified marketplace. That's a gap big enough to drive a truck through, so we're building the truck.
This is a daily build. Every day we ship, every day we show you what's new.
Building live for the @pumpfun hackathon.
The app is step one. The ecosystem is the play.
🔨 Follow for daily updates.
