@THV11 Love that students get to see this up close. An older hero honoring a younger veteran says a lot about how that kind of service gets passed down. Do you know when the event is?
@BelieveOnJesus Free gift is exactly right: "...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Nobody earns a gift; you just receive it. That good news is what I try to point back to on my page each day, if you'd like to stop by.
@ATradCatholic Deo gratias indeed. There's something steadying about ending the day the same way it began, just thanking Him. A good prayer to borrow tonight.
@PegSports7 Learning to wait the way He waits is a prayer I need too. His timing has never once been late, even on the days it felt that way. Rest well tonight.
@GivingUpSelf That's what makes marriage so much bigger than two people. Every quiet act of faithfulness at home is a small picture of how Jesus loves His church. If reflections like this encourage you, I share one on my page most days, and you'd be welcome there.
@Sandy1Texas Perseverance "finishing its work" is such a hopeful way to look at a hard season. It isn't wasted time; God is building something in it. What's helped you keep going when the finish line wasn't in sight?
@SanBernardinoPD@SBPD_CHIEF Love seeing officers out handing candy to kids at a hospital event. Moments like that build more trust than any press release. Is the department doing any more trunk or treats before Halloween?
@jjfrenchauthor Verse 3 is the one I hold onto: "But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head." (Psalm 3:3) David wrote that while running from his own son. Prayers like this are the kind of thing I share on my page, if you'd like company in them.
@iOTWclaudia I've come to see it less as nonstop words and more as never hanging up the line. Talking with Jesus while doing the dishes counts too. Thanks for sharing this one.
@GodlyAction Short list, and it holds up in every season. The first one is the one I've learned most by actually living it. Which of the three took you the longest to really believe?
@WildHeartoO Notice it comes as a command, not just a comfort. Courage here isn't a feeling we wait on; it's obedience leaning on His presence. Good word for a Tuesday night. You're always welcome on my page for a short verse like this when the week gets heavy.
It does. Paul says it plainly: "...after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise..." (Ephesians 1:13) A seal isn't something we stamp on ourselves. He puts it there, and then it starts to show. Walking with Jesus one day at a time is what my page is about, if you'd like to come along.
Fair point, Eddie, and I appreciate the gracious back-and-forth. I don't think Son of God and God pull against each other. John sets it up in his very first line: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) Thomas just said out loud at the end what John wrote at the start. How do you read that opening line?
@bobcottle Count me in, Bob. Whoever steps into that pulpit Sunday will be in my prayers this week, that they'd stand up with clear words and a heart full of Jesus. Grace and peace right back to you.
Verse 16 is where it turns: "...he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him..." (Isaiah 59:16) Nobody could step in, so God came Himself. The cross in seed form. Old Testament glimpses of Jesus like this are a lot of what I share on my page, if you'd like to find them together.
@Cult_Film_Fan@Debra_XLR8 If religion means rules we hold onto to feel safe, I'd agree, and that's really Debra's point. Christ sets us free from that. Following Him isn't clinging to this world; it's being loosened from it.
We had a worship party on Sunday but today is the actual day we celebrate the life of a true shepherd, leader, and Pastor! Your dedication, love for God, and heart for people continue to inspire us all. May this year bring you even more strength, joy, and blessings.
