When they come to Yoruba land and tell you it’s a culture shock for them that Yoruba people speak Yoruba or Yoruba people speaks Yoruba too much, it’s a playbook of theirs to erode your language so it’s easy for them to take over.

Next time, when people open their doors to you because your own home is struggling, don’t abuse the freedom, comfort, and opportunities they provide. Hospitality should be met with respect, responsibility, and gratitude.

What South Africans are showing is that every nation, no matter how welcoming, still wants its laws, culture, and identity respected. No people want to feel disregarded in their own home.

At the same time, this should remind all of us that the long-term solution is not dependence on other nations, but fixing and rebuilding our own countries so our people can thrive at home with dignity.

Some Ghanaians in South Africa have expressed a strong desire to the Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, during his visit to South Africa to return home following the latest wave of xenophobic attacks.

With the evacuation exercise postponed to a later date due to technical challenges relating to screening processes and permits for the aircraft to land from the South African authorities, the government is actively working to ensure that the evacuation takes place this week.
