When I assumed leadership of the County, hospital laundry services faced serious challenges, with obsolete and faulty machines forcing staff to clean linen manually, compromising efficiency, hygiene, and infection control.
To address this, we have installed modern laundry equipment at Machakos County Referral Hospital. The new system will improve laundry processing, strengthen infection prevention measures, and ensure a reliable supply of clean and safe linen for both patients and healthcare workers.
This investment will significantly enhance hospital hygiene standards, improve patient care, reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections, and provide a safer and more efficient working environment for our medical staff.
The second cohort of the Machakos Youth Service is making commendable progress as they near the completion of their National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) examinations. This marks a major milestone in equipping our youth with hands-on skills and preparing them for productive livelihoods.
Following their exams, the trainees will engage in a one-week community service program, giving them an opportunity to give back to society while nurturing discipline and teamwork. This initiative strengthens their sense of responsibility and patriotism, builds leadership and teamwork skills, and contributes to the improvement of the local community environment.
After the release of their results, we will hold a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements and mark the beginning of their transition into the job market and entrepreneurship, after which we will issue them with tools of trade. These tools will empower them to be self-reliant, enable them to start their own ventures, enhance productivity, and contribute meaningfully to economic growth while reducing unemployment among the youth.
I am deeply honoured to receive recognition at the StarLeaders Awards 2026, having been ranked 2nd among the top-performing governors in Kenya for outstanding performance by Politrack Africa.
This recognition is a testament to the resilience, partnership, and collective commitment of the people of Machakos County. Asanteni sana, hii ni kwa ajili yenu!
The director of Movata Designs, Maureen Mwende Mutua, visited my residence today accompanied by her parents to discuss on her payments.
We had an open and productive conversation, and I want to assure the public that Movata Designs will be paid as per the procedures in accordance with the established procedures. This ensures that all payments are handled transparently, fairly, and in line with the law.
Maureen, my dear, all will be well. Mama is proud of your courage and maturity to resolve this matter amicably.

Today has marked yet another milestone towards youth empowerment in Machakos where 1700 Youths have completed a three- weeks boot camp at the Machakos Youth Service Centre (MYS) and are set to Join various Vocational Training Centres to pursue different skills development courses
I had the honor to preside over the pass-out of the 2nd cohort of the Machakos Youth Service, marking a major milestone in our youth empowerment agenda. Building on the success of the first cohort, this second cohort admitted 1,700 more youths from all 40 wards, a clear sign of the program’s growth and impact.
The event, witnessed by proud parents and guardians, was hailed as a transformative intervention. Following the pass-out, the youths will transition to our Vocational Training Centres for fully sponsored three-month skills training in areas like Electrical & Electronics, Culinary Arts, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Plumbing, Masonry, Welding, Cosmetology, Fashion & Design, and Event Management & DJ.
They will also have opportunities for practical experience and income generation before sitting for NITA examinations to earn nationally recognized certifications.
My administration continues to invest in our youth, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to thrive and succeed.
Today this has been made a reality in Machakos where 1700 Youths have completed a three week boot camp and will be proceeding to various Vacational Training Centres across Machakos for skills development under different categories.

Effective leadership is about learning, sharing, and delivering results that matter.
Through the AMALI Fellowship at the University of Cape Town, I completed structured peer learning with Mayors and Governors from across Africa, culminating in a formal certification.
The exchanges focused on urban growth, service delivery, and governance, generating insights that will inform impactful leadership and shape cities and communities in Machakos and beyond.
A total of 1,500 youths have today begun their journey of empowerment at the Machakos Youth Service. The program will begin with a minimum 21-day boot camp focusing on physical fitness, personal consciousness, discipline, emergency and first aid training, and an introduction to TVET coursework. After the pass-out, they will commence advanced hands-on training.
The program will continue for three months at our Vocational Training Centres, fully sponsored by the County Government of Machakos, where youths will undertake courses selected during the boot camp. These include electrical engineering, culinary arts, mechanics, plumbing, welding, masonry, hairdressing, DJ and event management, and tailoring, culminating in NITA examinations.
The journey will conclude with two weeks of community service, graduation, and issuance of tools and equipment to empower the youth, preparing them for employment, self-reliance, and meaningful contribution to sustainable development in Machakos County.
Passable roads are vital for economic growth, easy movement, and connecting our people to opportunities. Today at Mutituni Market, we will be launching the Barabara Mashinani Program, including the commissioning of new road construction equipment that will transform access from villages to markets across Machakos County.
Access to clean water sustains health, drives development, and empowers communities. The County Government of Machakos remains dedicated to ensuring that every household across the county has access to clean and reliable water.
I will continue to champion efforts that expand water access, promote conservation, and enhance water management for the benefit of all residents.
@Wavinya_Ndeti This is a great day for the young men and women..
You have shaped their future and are now ripe to take up different careers and build up their lives. #MachakosYouthRising
