This brings back fond memories of our many road trips across Nigeria in 2022–23 —especially the night we spent sleeping in our cars at a fueling station in the forest outside Kaiama, Kwara State.
His Excellency Peter Obi and I are still agile and fully ready for the task ahead. Are you? - RMK
NIGERIA AT 66: OUR FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS
Fellow Nigerians,
Today, as we celebrate the 66th anniversary of our independence, I congratulate Nigerians at home and across the world.
Independence Day is not only a day for celebration. It is also a time to reflect on where we are, where we want to be, and what we must do to get there.
Nigeria is blessed with enormous human and natural resources. Yet, too many of our people are living with insecurity, poverty, unemployment, hunger and inadequate access to quality education and healthcare.
This should concern every Nigerian, particularly those entrusted with leadership.
We cannot continue to accept a situation where our children are out of school, farmers cannot safely access their farms, young people struggle to find opportunities, and communities are displaced by insecurity.
As echoed by our Presidential
Candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, Nigeria must move from consumption to production.
We must invest in our people, especially our young population. We must make education a priority, support agriculture and industry, empower entrepreneurs and create an environment where hard work can translate into prosperity.
Security must also remain a fundamental responsibility of government. Nigerians deserve to live, farm, trade and raise their families without fear.
All through my time as a student union leader, parliamentarian, minister and governor, I have always believed that leadership must be measured by results, not by promises.
Our people deserve a government that is accountable, disciplined and focused on improving their lives.
Nigeria is not without problems, but neither is Nigeria without solutions. What we need is the courage, competence and commitment to implement those solutions.
On this Independence Day, let us renew our faith in Nigeria and our determination to build a country that provides opportunity for every citizen, regardless of where they come from.
A new and productive Nigeria is POssible, and it shall be OK with our country.
May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its people.
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. - RMK
What we saw in Ramin Kura is not an isolated story. It is a reflection of the suffering experienced, in different forms, across many parts of Nigeria.
And yet, while ordinary Nigerians struggle with these realities, this present government often behaves as though these problems belong to another country. The political leaders, have failed our country and, most importantly, we have failed our children.
This must change.
My message today is not one of despair. It is a message of hope, determination and responsibility. I dare to proclaim with full assurance that a new Nigeria is possible.
As President of Nigeria, I will make governance measurable, accountable and centred on the welfare and productivity of our people. Within the first year, Nigerians will begin to see the tangible impact of purposeful and effective leadership.
We will confront insecurity decisively so that our farmers can return to their farms, our children can return to school, businesses can operate freely, and families can live without fear. No Nigerian should be forced to live in an IDP camp because his or her government has failed to provide security. My administration will work to ensure that Nigerians displaced by insecurity can begin to return safely and with dignity to their communities.
We will move from a consumption-driven economy to a productive economy, one that creates jobs, expands opportunities, supports agriculture and manufacturing, invests in human capital, and makes Nigeria a country where young people can build meaningful lives.
We will prioritise education, healthcare, security and productive enterprise because these are not luxuries. They are the foundations of a functioning nation.
As I have always done, I will lead by example. In four years as President of this great nation, I will not spend my holidays outside Nigeria. My holidays will be spent in Zamfara State; Borno State; Kwara State; Ebonyi State; Edo State; Ekiti State and other Nigerian States.
I want to continue to see Nigeria. I want to know Nigeria. I want to spend time with Nigerians, listen to them, understand their challenges and celebrate their resilience.
We will build a Nigeria that is secure, united and productive; a Nigeria governed with competence, accountability and justice; a Nigeria where no child is denied education because of untold poverty or unbearable insecurity; where no mother dies because she cannot access basic healthcare; where farmers can return safely to their farms; where young people can find opportunities to work and prosper; and where public resources are deployed strictly for the public good.
We will build a Nigeria that our children and future generations will be proud to inherit, a Nigeria where unity, peace, justice and prosperity are not merely words in speeches, but lived realities for our people.
On this sixty-sixth Independence Anniversary, let us look back with gratitude, look around us with honesty, and look forward with courage.
The Nigeria we desire will not be built by prayers alone, nor by promises alone. It will be built by leadership that understands that public office is a sacred trust, by citizens who demand accountability, and by all of us who refuse to accept failure as our destiny.
It is time to build the new and productive Nigeria that is possible.
May God Almighty bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. -PO
These are the Ebonyi State citizens APC people say won't vote for Peter Obi.
This visit was an unannounced visit, yet people left their shops, work places and homes just to come show solidarity to Peter Obi.
This wasn't even a political event, yet people choke. Keep playing!

His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the NDC, addressing the press as we celebrate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
🇳🇬 Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! May our nation continue to move forward. Nigeria will be OK. 🙏
This is Kuna Nwankwo doing the needful but all Okocha can do is to advertise betting company to the youth and to jump from one podcast to another telling us that CR7 CRISTIANO RONALDO is like Halaand..
We no suppose forgive Okocha for what he said 😤🙅🏻
“So just because I’m a Yoruba boy, I should keep quiet and watch this bad government destroy my life, my future and that of my siblings?
CAN YOU SEE THAT YOU ALL ARE MAD?”
The amount of electoral fraud in Nigeria is mind-boggling. It’s almost affecting my mental health.
Every time you think you’ve discovered the lowest it can possibly go, Nigerian politicians and INEC tell you to hold their beer.
The 2023 elections were deeply flawed. And while much of the public attention focused on the presidential election, what happened in some of the National Assembly elections was even worse.
The official dressing for tomorrow’s Independence Day celebration is the TINUBU MUST GO shirt and cap.
We will start matching out by 8 am for a peaceful walk.
Peter Obi goes to everywhere a President of a nation is meant to go in his country. His direct connection to the people cannot be overemphasized.
Nigerians should for once vote the right person and not the one they think can rig himself to office.
