This revisionism is so unnecessary.
The context is Spain are without Nico Williams, without the Rodri of old, and with a Lamine Yamal who’s still regaining fitness.
Their three most important players in that tournament, all of whom they currently lack/miss.
So if I’m not wrong, Simeone and Alemany both agree with Alvarez to Barca.
Gil Marin doesn’t agree. But if I’m also not wrong, he promised Julian he’d let him go.
Alvarez said he talked with who he needed to talk with. Obviously that was Marin.
What a president, hats off.
🚨 TURNING POINT: Atlético Madrid is desperate to avoid a second public statement from Julián Álvarez as they look to control the toxic noise around the club! Diego Simeone is very upset. Today, a crucial meeting will take place between Atlético officials and Álvarez’s camp to find an agreement. It appears Atleti has finally accepted Julián's definitive will to join Barça. Barca is closely monitoring the situation! ⏳💼🔵🔴
🚨 Luis Suarez: "I feel like Barça need a reference striker, like Lewandowski was, alongside the work that Ferran Torres does."
"If you score a couple of goals in your first matches, you set the bar high, and people will always expect that."
"I feel like there are many strikers who could do well at Barça, but we'll see after the World Cup."
🚨🎙️| Luis Suárez: “If I had to choose a striker for Barcelona, I’d choose Julián Álvarez. He has everything needed to succeed there. For me, he’s one of the most complete forwards in world football because of everything he contributes, not just goals.” #fcblive 👀
🚨 What do you think of Julian's situation? Could he stay at Atletico?
❗️Luis Suarez: "In 2013, I was fighting with Liverpool to leave the club and join Arsenal. We didn't qualify for the Champions League, so I wanted to leave."
"Then Steven Gerrard spoke to me. He asked me to stay for one more year."
"He said that next year I would join whatever team I wanted: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich... I dropped it."
"He convinced me and I stayed. I then had my best ever season at Liverpool."
"The fans weren't angry at me. I apologized and they forgave me, because they saw that I was fighting since the first game. They don't resent you for wanting to leave before."
You need to have balls of steel to drive "intellectual" conversations in today's Nigeria social media space.
As for the congregation of the uprisen olodos, in the conversation of the Olodo uprising - I have decided to share my own think piece.
Atlético Madrid filing a complaint over player tapping is incredibly ironic.
This is the same club that was proudly leaking stories about Rodrigo De Paul, Nahuel Molina and Simeone calling Julián Álvarez every day to convince him to join Atlético.
Back then it was ambition.
Now it’s a FIFA complaint.
Football clubs love talking about principles until those principles start working against them.
The lack of self-awareness is genuinely impressive.
