“[Kindness is] helpfulness towards someone in need, not in return for anything, nor for the advantage of the helper himself, but for that of the person helped.” -Aristotle
That puny cucumber plant and I did this. no bees involved (where are the🐝?!) anyway, I hand pollinated a female flower & few wks later, BOOM, 1 cucumber, from a giant, prolific vine. Best cucumber in the world, tbh. ty, that is all. yay for growing food in one’s yard! 🙏 🌱☀️💧
@maggiemarton@TaliaHibbert FYI on Hundred Years of Solitude: inspired writing (brilliant storytelling/imagery), HEAVY content (all the things that give human beings a bad rep incl)-I almost couldn’t finish, but it lightened up, a little, thankfully near the end. I hate not finishing books.😁 Next please!
the derivation of formulas for complex math problems must’ve been like the invention of GPS. no one can find their way without it now. it’s convenient, but makes us lazy.
my dog doesn’t really care and that’s his gift
@maggiemarton uh, The Goldfinch is huge! Guess I’m reading One-Hundred Years…next. Will let you know how it turns out.😊 And ty for the heads up on the Forest for the Trees! Hope it was as riveting throughout.
Just finished Till We Have Faces (and still trying to get my head around the allegory-beautiful, provocative prose). On deck: One Hundred Years of Solitude and The Goldfinch. I’ll decide which is 1st when I get my hands on the books this weekend. Happy reading, Maggie! #amreading
Currently reading: The Forest for the Trees by Betsy Lerner. This book sat on my shelf for 5+ years. I finally picked it up last night... and couldn't put it down. Just what I needed to read right now. Books find you at the right time/place! What are you reading?

4 happy flowery things 2day @NorfolkBotanic: 1) deeply fragrant white rose, 2) huge southern magnolia tree (many buds still to open), 3) wild honeysuckle squatting in a sad, past-bloom rhododendron hedge, 4) the most stunning, in-full-bloom, red rhododendron I’ve ever seen 🙏🌳🌺
@LAFDestiny It’s ok. I lost him in December, unexpectedly, to kidney failure. He and I had nearly 11 priceless years, side by side, tho, and Dewi has been a massive comfort. He’s also thriving-a cat’s dog, turns out. I’m grateful. ty for asking. 🙏
Man, we love being back home! Come out to Harbor Park tonight for game two of our six-game set vs. @JaxShrimp, with first pitch set for 6:35 ⚾️
