I would like to make it clear that I was informed many times as a dad that it did not matter that I had experienced malevolent trauma exposure in combat environments and brain injuries that have epigenetic adaptations that commonly increase violence related behavioral hormones, I had zero excuse for ever being unsatisfied or not being perfectly stable at all times for and around kids. That's the standard for dads. Apparently it's different for moms. That is confusing to me.

Oh I wholeheartedly agree that the family support trumps all. I'm just saying that there is a lot being lost between generations....mothers not being taught how to be a mother from the older generation of mothers for example. The RS is there to help support passing down that generational knowledge. My fear is that the RS is loosing focus on that mission just as the Elders Quorum has with the fathers, the young womens the girls and young mens with the boys....

The Lindsay Clancy trial has me thinking about something we rarely talk about:

Feminism dismantled a lot of the old networks of women supporting women—and never really replaced them.

For generations, women lived within matriarchal lines of knowledge. Your mother, grandmother, sisters, aunts, and older women in your community knew what pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, and motherhood looked like. They noticed when you weren’t yourself. They showed up. They took the baby. They fed you. They told you to sleep. And sometimes they recognized that something was seriously wrong before you did.

Modern feminism fought against that and told women they were “trapped in dependence on other people.”

But somewhere along the way, “women should be capable of standing on their own” became dangerously close to “women should handle their problems on their own.”

So now a woman can be drowning with a newborn and the answer is often: make an appointment. Find a therapist. Call a hotline. Ask your doctor. Join a support group.

All perfectly reasonable—and sometimes completely inadequate.

A professional system cannot fully replace a community of women who actually know you, see you regularly, and have the authority to say, “Something is wrong. You aren’t okay. I’m taking the baby and you’re coming with me.”

The tragedy of Lindsay Clancy isn’t proof that the old system would have saved her. We can’t know that.

But it should make us ask whether, in pursuing female independence, we also discarded something women desperately needed:

each other.

These women are the epitome of too little, too late, and wrong kind.

It was not an insurrection.

It was a redress of grievances. The First Amendment. A million people showed up because they believed their votes were stolen and their voices were being erased. I walked through an open door on a handicap ramp. Police stood there. People walked in and out. I chanted “Stop the Steal” for 22 minutes. I saw no violence. I committed none.
They could not stomach a protest they did not control.

When they burned cities in 2020 they called it mostly peaceful. When we showed up they called it the worst thing since the British burned the Capitol in 1812. They sent 24 FBI agents after dads for a Class B petty offense that used to be a $50 ticket. They stacked a 20-year felony the Supreme Court later said they applied unconstitutionally. They put us in the same court that was already at war with Trump.

They destroyed families. They destroyed businesses. They turned fathers against sons. They put kids and families through TSA hell. They wanted us bankrupt, destitute, ashamed, and silent.

COVID taught them they could shut churches, lock people in their homes, and crush small businesses. January 6 taught them they could make protest itself a crime if the wrong people did it.
That is not justice. That is a police state picking winners and losers.

We are still here.

Women are out here making the argument that their hormones make them so crazy that murder is justified, without apparently considering what that argument actually implies about women.

Yes, postpartum hormones can influence mood and mental health. Postpartum psychosis is also a real, documented psychiatric condition.1) It’s very rare (1/2 per 1000 births) 2) neither womanhood nor hormonal fluctuation automatically eliminates agency or criminal responsibility.

Even an insanity defense requires evidence that a person’s mental condition met a specific legal threshold at the time of the crime and not simply evidence that she was postpartum, hormonal, depressed, or mentally ill.

For most of Western history, women were explicitly characterized as irrational, emotionally unstable, and intellectually inferior because of their reproductive biology. “Hysteria” itself was historically associated with the uterus, and women could be institutionalized under extraordinarily broad standards.

So when you argue that a woman’s reproductive biology can make her so fundamentally incapable of controlling herself that she shouldn’t be held accountable for killing someone, you’re resurrecting exactly the premise that female biology makes women less rational, less autonomous, and less responsible for their own decisions than men. It’s the same logic used to excuse black murderers. “They could not help themselves.”

You can’t have it both ways.

Either women are autonomous adults capable of equal participation in society and deserving of equal justice under the law, or we’re fragile creatures governed by hormonal madness who cannot reliably be trusted with the same agency and responsibility afforded to men.

If you genuinely believe the Clancy defense, you’ve constructed a better argument for the paternalism of the 19th century than most 19th-century men ever could.

A paralytic follows, then the potassium chloride to stop the heart.

Without anesthesia, the person would experience that agony while conscious.

In late term abortions, the same potassium chloride (or digoxin) is injected into the unborn child’s heart or umbilical cord to stop the heartbeat before the procedure.

No anesthetic is given to the child.

Pain receptors are present, neural pathways are functional, and research shows premature infants of similar age are actually more sensitive to pain than full term newborns, partly because the pathways that normally dampen pain signals are not yet mature.

The same chemical that requires anesthesia for a condemned prisoner is delivered to an unborn child with none.

Ultrasound has documented fetal movement and signs of distress during the process.
