Marti Wymer, Steven Wymer, and Scott Gustafson, Co-Founders of @Comfortsoup, are three of this year's Entrepreneur of the Year Mountain West winners. In this interview, they talk about the founding story of Spoonful of Comfort.

Spoonful of Comfort was born from tragedy when Marti got a call that her mother, who was living in Canada, had been diagnosed with cancer. Marti was searching online for something to send her, but couldn't find anything that felt appropriate.

Spoonful of Comfort did not begin as a business—in Marti’s words, “Originally it was a labor of love, I was pouring my grief into this.” After being highlighted on the USA Today blog, Spoonful of Comfort slowly began transitioning into a growing business.

“It was the complete entrepreneur situation: awesome, disastrous, make it happen, figure it out,” Steven said of the incident. “That was the real transition from grief towards, this is a business with something here.”
