Karoline, you are really sweet and this is not meant to attack you personally but I think people understood perfectly well what you said. They just disagree.

Obviously, young people generally have and will always be, the most radically left wing political group. This phenomenon is not specific to gen z - boomers were literally getting high at Woodstock in 1969 and burning bras. But many grew out of that mindset. It’s called youthful hopefulness.

So to say that Gen z voters support socialists because they’re “lazier” than other generations not only completely disregards historical context/age trends, but it’s also extremely insulting. You may not have personally experienced this, but most of us have had to take the same path other generations have - get a degree, work at unpaid/low paying internships, and climb the corporate ladder.

The only different between us and previous generations is that we’re starting out life tens of thousands of dollars in debt for the same degree our parents paid a couple thousand dollars for, migrants have flooded our country and have fundamentally changed the job market, and AI is taking over the workforce.

Oh, and if we’re lucky enough to own a home, that home will cost about 4x what the boomer we’re buying it from paid for in 1980.

I don’t agree with socialists, but let’s be clear about something: the gen z is “lazy” trope is just about the laziest insult you can possibly come up with. Because it simply isn’t true. And you should probably tell your handlers that next time they try to feed you such a ridiculous line.
