@harman_geoff @BadMedicalTakes For a bit of clarification, sci-fi showed him that the world didn’t have to be that way. Star Trek presented a future where people were far better than they were then. The allegorical nature of sci-fi let him explore ideas that would be hard to tackle otherwise.

@BGirlSoCal @harman_geoff @BadMedicalTakes My diagnosis was very healing for him. I was just like him as a kid so it was easy for him to see the connection. Having a name for it let him fully reject the terrible things adults called him when he was a kid. He wasn’t a “bad kid”. He was an adhd kid.
