Healthcare workers are so over the argument that “we signed up for this”
We signed up for helping others in the name of science and altruism.
No one told us the healthcare system would take advantage of our empathy and prioritize profit over our patients
Healthcare is a human right but so is respecting one’s dignity to decline it. Wrote about how @NYCMayor’s involuntary #mentalhealth street sweeps will be dangerous to patients and hospitals. https://t.co/kaGgVlQ9Ji
Clinically, the #ED is the access point to the healthcare system. Academically, the ED can/should be the driver of research that demonstrates societal/institutional -isms to better care and accountability to underserved pts. #socialEM
We can leverage #ED data to identify & address #SDoH & improve #health#equity.
Our latest work in @TheLancetPH shows how #ED visits for #asthma can be used to identify poor quality #housing & direct resources where they are needed most

hey (with the intention of making sure you’re up-to-date on your routine vaccinations because the first polio case reported in the U.S. in almost a decade was just detected)
Tough night in the ED. Was reprimanded by one man who was approached by another man who felt disrespected by me but didn’t want to address me directly out of fear of being misogynistic. The reprimanding man suggested that I take things less personally. #FemInEM
