Govt needs to find ways to channelize this into the formal economy ...somehow!! And imports can stop..
A vibrant gold spot exchange like SGE need to be formed
Free convertible of INR into Gold held by foreigners who buy our exports in INR need to be envisaged
A scheme to deposit Gold that gives one time tax free amnesty to depositor redeemable in gold in 5/7 yrs can see lot of Gold being deposited to get this started.
We have to remove GST from Gold and make it more freely tradeable with minimal costs.
