To reduce the risk of wildfire and support public safety, we will implement a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), affecting about 7,100 customers, beginning on Wednesday, April 22, around noon for customers in Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, and Rio Grande counties.
Weather conditions are expected to start improving around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. Crews will begin restoring power as soon as it is safe to do so.
Make final preparations for outages now, especially if you use medical equipment that requires electricity.
Please note, due to anticipated high winds, outages could take place outside of areas impacted by a PSPS, impacting restoration times. Restoring outages from this significant weather event and PSPS is expected to take several hours and may last through Thursday. This is because crews must inspect power lines and repair damage before they can be safely re-energized. Rural, remote, mountainous and other difficult to reach areas could experience extended outages.

In partnership with Rocky Mountain PBS, we’re introducing the Partners in Prevention online resource hub, which features guidance, preparedness tips, educational content for families and children and links to local and statewide emergency resources to help Coloradans prevent and prepare for wildfires. https://t.co/exoZAt2SoG
With the recent Power Safety and Power Shutoff (PSPS) measures taken by @XcelEnergyCO it’s key to own your energy. Hence why we’re bringing flexible solutions to all Coloradan’s …
@GovofCO We're ready to provide all Coloradan's a resilient system that will shield them from events like todays'. Xcel can't control the weather, but you can ride the weather regardless with a solar + battery system.
Today many out there at the "edge" (home and businesses) are thanking our expertise in getting them a resilient solar + battery system.. Xcel isn't immune of wind speeds, but you can be by adding batteries (i.e. @teslaenergy Powerwalls) to your home.
Due to extremely high winds, low humidity and dry vegetation causing high fire risk, we will be conducting a Public Safety Power Shutoff at 10 am today December 17th in parts of Boulder, Clear Creek, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties. Wind conditions are expected to improve around 6 pm, however, high winds and low relative humidity that may create wildfire risk and cause outages are expected again on Friday.
Hundreds of Xcel Energy crew members and contractors are positioned along the Front Range, ready to restore power due to the PSPS as well as any other outages caused by high winds. Crews must inspect power lines and equipment and repair damage before it can be safely re-energized. You can help Xcel Energy get a jump on power restoration by reporting any outages outside of the PSPS zone. We also encourage you to report any damage to power lines that they see.
Due to changes in weather forecasts Xcel Energy is also evaluating the potential need for a second PSPS event impacting mountain communities and the Front Range on Friday, Dec. 19, beginning as early as 6 a.m.

Today we had a ‘minor’ #VPP event here in Colorado.
With Xcel’s renewable battery connect (RBC) program you can claim up to $5,000 per @teslaenergy system
In the future, when the energy markets open more, you’ll be able to monetize further on the battery system.
