Anna Hazare started his protest on 16 August 2011.
The Congress government put him in Tihar Jail within hours, on 16 August itself.
Today, these chmtiyas have the audacity to lecture Modi on how to handle a protest.
Good that he took accountability now can we ask resignation from Karnataka and Punjab education ministers too , cause paper leak toh udhar bhi hue hain
Now that @dpradhanbjp has resigned, he has sent a precedent. It clears the way for Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka education ministers to resign. Cmon #RahulGandhi#ArvindKejriwal. Respect your own words.
One of the most important (and overlooked) scenes in the Odyssey is the encounter with the Lotus-eaters.
After nine days at sea, Odysseus and his men finally reach dry land. They go ashore to collect water, and Odysseus sends three men to go explore.
When his men don't return, Odysseus begins to worry.
The men had met some of the islanders (the Lotus-eaters), "who did them no hurt, but gave them to eat of the lotus, which was so delicious that those who ate of it left off caring about home, and did not even want to go back".
Odysseus ends up having to drag his men back to the ships and quickly sail away.
One must understand the symbolic power of the lotus. Its danger is not in any physical threat. The lotus is so deadly because it overloads you with pleasure, taking away all sense of urgency.
In this state of pleasure and relaxation, you forget your mission and your purpose. The men who ate the lotus flowers completely forgot about everything of value in their lives: their homes, their families, etc.
It's easy to think the monsters and beasts are the most terrifying threats you face. But because they're so obviously dangerous and remind you that death is a real possibility, they alert you to the value of life, and remind you of why you're fighting. But the real danger is a life so comfortable that you forget what you were trying to do in the first place.
Statistically speaking, it's unlikely you'll ever go to war or die of famine. But it is certainly possible that an addiction to your phone will derail you from your mission. Abundance of food and entertainment is far more likely to destroy you than most physical threats.
Yes, you will encounter plenty of Sirens and Cyclopes in life. But the real threat, which you must fend off every single day, is that of the lotus flower: a delicious indulgence that brings you immediate satisfaction, and makes you forget what you were fighting for.
The 20-foot armored giants in Nolan's Odyssey are actors. Tall performers in the suits, shorter performers playing Odysseus's men, staged at different depths in Scotland's Culbin Forest with seven IMAX cameras running. A lens has one eye. It can't perceive depth, so casting extremes plus placement does what a render farm usually does.
Filmmakers have exploited that single weakness for a century. Hagrid in Harry Potter was Robbie Coltrane in close-ups and 6'10" Martin Bayfield in an animatronic suit for wides. Elf built Santa's workshop with actors seated 30 feet behind Will Ferrell. Peter Jackson's team went furthest, rigging sets that physically slid as the camera panned so the illusion survived a moving shot.
Nolan just ran the technique at a scale nobody has attempted since.
The Laestrygonian giants are one line item. He built a 60-foot animatronic Cyclops and operated it inside an actual cave in the Peloponnese. The Troy set covered 110,000 square feet and held 2,000 extras. The production built multiple 35-foot Trojan Horses, buried one on a beach, and filmed real men dragging it out of the sand.
Snow and mist in the giant sequence are doing quiet work too. Fog flattens depth cues, which is why the trick reads as impossible instead of visible. Casablanca sold a full-size airplane the same way: painted backdrop, little people in mechanic costumes, and a studio rainstorm to keep your eyes busy.
The result is the biggest opening weekend of Nolan's career, bigger than both Dark Knight sequels. The most advanced effect in a 2026 blockbuster is a camera that can't see depth, pointed at people standing in the wrong places on purpose.
@Venky_DK 1) Weak against spin
2) Susceptible to new ball
3) Can't accelerate
Don't have an iota of idea on what amusing did Sunrisers see in Zak Crawley
That made them Pre-sign him despite of other English T20 players being available 🤦🤦
@Venky_DK Exactly 💯
Bro how can u not get frustrated when vettori or SRH management makes repeated mistakes again & again 💔
Look at how trent rockets, London spirit, MSG built their team with 1.1M £ & look at Sunrisers 😔😔

@Venky_DK@t20tracker Yeah, rickleton should bat at 3, he also have experience at batting no.3 in T20 wc 2026.
Marsh - Crawley should be the opening pair
People interested in cricket data should follow Tyson's Substack. He's a bright young PhD student working on using data to measure performance and writes well on interesting data projects.

Not sure why Christopher Nolan doesn't think the "Nobody" pun doesn't translate to modern dialogue. The Odyssey's "Nobody" pun might be nearly 3,000 years old yet remains one of the most famous literary tricks in human history. It holds up today because it is simultaneously a simple joke, linguistic genius, and adds to Odyssyeus's hubris.
There's even another layer to this trick. Odysseus knows he can't out muscle this guy. By stripping his name and becoming "Nobody", Odysseus proves that identity and strength are meaningless without intellect.
After defeating the Cyclops, Odysseus (safe on his ship) let's his ego gets the best of him. He can't stand even his "Nobody" alter ego getting the credit, so he screams his real name back at the Cyclops to let him know who really did this to him.
And of course, now that the cyclops knows it was really Odysseus, prays to Poseidon using his real name. Which in the poem, catches Odysseus a 10 year prison sentence out at sea.
The "Nobody" joke is insanely multilayered and the real punchline is Odysseus can't stand Nobody taking credit for his exploits.

#Messi is left-footed.
#England's entire defensive shape was built to stop a left-footed cross.
So he delivered a right-footed assist instead. 🤯
Through a crowd of defenders, with computer-level precision, straight onto #LautaroMartínez's head.
Genius isn't taught. It's Lionel Messi. 🐐🇦🇷
I said this about AI well over a year ago. Using it to diagnose and fire people with medical conditions so they lose their insurance AND their income is somehow even more heartless and evil than I’d predicted.
