What makes a Links Course a True Links Course?
Most people get it wrong. It's not just "near the ocean." It’s a 5-point manifesto built on soil, weather, and the absence of trees.

A slight change-up to our appreciation of #linksgolf but a look back to the Ryder Cup over the pond last month. @robert1lefty stripping it down the first @RyderCupEurope
The Links Logic: On exposed, sandy soil or thick rough, loft is your enemy. The high-lofted wedge you packed for your parkland course is useless. You only need one low-bounce option.
St Andrews making sure that the winner of the Claret Jug is going to earn it.
- Increased to 7,445 yards, an increase of 132 yards.
- New tees on 5, 6, 7 & 10.

If you could ONLY play 3 Links Courses for the rest of your life, which 3 are you picking?
My @GolfLinksLogic picks are:
1. Royal County Down (for the sheer rating).
2. Burnham & Berrow (for the welcoming feel).
3. Bandon Dunes (for the pure routing).
Reply with your 3 picks & let's see where the Links community stands.

4/5: No Trees. Period. The land must be treeless. The only hazards should be natural: deep bunkers, gorse, and the ever-present fescue rough. The course exists because nothing else could grow there.
