· If the player finds the first ball, he does NOT have the option to play that ball because the player announced on the tee, he was playing a “Breakfast Ball”.

If the player does play the first ball, he would be considered to be playing a wrong ball. Refer to Rule 6.3c.

18.4 Breakfast Ball
Purpose of Rule: A Breakfast Ball provides the option for a player to hit another tee shot off the first tee during a round.

18.4a Playing a Breakfast Ball
· After a tee shot is made off the first tee, a player may deem that ball no longer in play and “without Penalty” proceed to hit another tee shot. The player must deem the second ball as a “Breakfast Ball”, and he MUST abandon the first ball.

If you are faced with a situation where you will be required to take a penalty stroke due to a rule of any kind, you have the option to disregard the penalty as long as nobody saw you breach the rule.
