RORY McILROY'S 5 RULES
1. NO BOGEYS WITH A WEDGE IN YOUR HAND
Inside 100 yards, bogey should be almost impossible. Green first, two putts, move on.
2. NEVER MISS A PAR 3 ON THE SHORT SIDE
Ignore the flag if you have to. Give yourself the easiest possible miss and make par or bogey your worst realistic score.
3. EVERY PAR 5 MUST BE PLAYED IN 5 SHOTS OR LESS
You don't need to make birdie. But doubles on par 5s are completely off limits. Three controlled shots and two putts still gets the job done.
4. NEVER THREE-PUTT FROM INSIDE 40 FEET
Your first putt has one objective: finish inside three feet. Stop trying to hole everything and start protecting par.
5. YOU GET ONE HERO SHOT PER ROUND - MAXIMUM
Through trees, over water, terrible lie? You get ONE gamble.
After that, every recovery shot goes straight back into play.
Breaking 80 isn't about making more birdies.
It's about making double bogey almost impossible.
