Day 8 of my thru-hike of The Ireland Way took me away from the midges and along the road through Millstreet, a lovely little town along the route. Got camped up for the night in a pine forest in the middle of nowhere

It's just 13km but it has over 1,000m height gain. So, the #GlencushHorseshoe is a good test and the views are just wonderful. #GaltyMountains (First from Cush. Second from Slievecushabinnia)

That was some weekend for hiking! Temperatures reading over 28 degreea at times on top of the Kmockmealdown mountains and not a breath of wind to be felt.

Fantastic weekend's walking and fantastic company as well!

@ger_cosgrove It was beautiful indeed! The poor thing was clearly petrified but so well camouflaged!

Very nearly stepped on this poor little fella along the wicklow way who had obviously frozen still in the heather.

We left him alone as quickly as possible so as he could safely return to the nearby herd of deer who were looking on anxiously.
