βFrickβ
Brett Frick #1
The just announced 2026 recipient of the Robert L. Windlan Outstanding Athlete Award at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. This award represents the highest athletic honor at our school, recognizing a senior student-athlete for their outstanding performance, leadership, and character.
The Frick story is one that we hope everyone knows, loves and appreciates as much as we do.
Everyone saw the way it ends. The senior shortstop who started all 28 games there. Who batted leadoff in the last 25 of them. A player who was a senior captain, loved by his teammates and coaches. Someone who everyone could relate and enjoyed being around. A person of high character, presence, relaxed, fun loving, energetic.
However, the road that it took for him to be the household name, the leader of our team, the heartbeat. Freshmen year a back injury that kept him off the field till late in the season. Sophomore year fighting to be starting infielder. Junior year 23.1 total innings on defense, 26 plate appearances total in 31 games. Mostly used as a pinch runner and or courtesy runner for the pitcher/catcher. What did he do and show as a Junior? Tireless worker at practice, energy giver, positivity, competitive, practicing for his moments, making his path for senior year, not having a negative attitude, not complaining, understanding why the guys in front of him are. Taking notes, assessing and analyzing everything, asking questions. Making those guys push which in turn made them and the team better. That is the less glamorous version of things. Everyone internally saw it and will never forget it, because that is a character trait that stays with you forever!
A 4 year GC baseball player
(2 years on JV and 2 years on Varsity)
Attending college at Clemson University!
A Senior team captain!
An all WCAC conference selection
(2026 Honorable Mention as an Infielder)
A part of 33 wins during his Varsity career!
A 11 time winner of βFalcon of the Dayβ
First Varsity hit was on 3/10/25 vs St. Johnβs Catholic Prep in Frederick at McCurdy Field!
Made only 9 errors in his 2 year Varsity career! Which included 182 innings at shortstop!
As a Senior, he lead the team in games played (28 tied), plate appearances (108), hit by pitch (10), sacrifice bunts (5), reach on error (5), stolen bases (12), innings played (173.2), assists (54), and double plays (9)!

Frick, you had the responsibility of the program on your shoulders. Yet you did everything with a fun can do attitude. You enjoyed your teammates, your grades were excellent, your community work was top notch, your baseball work stellar and your leadership was the best we have seen which is saying something with your fellow titled leaders and the great ones that came before you. You did things that most didnβt notice day in and day out. The way you did EVERYTHING is why the coaches held and hold you in the highest regard. Thank you is not enough, so letβs try thisβ¦
You left GC baseball better than when you entered it. The program is poised to be entering the next big phase after you rose the bar again for how things are done. Your leadership will now be how the ones you leave behind will try to aspire to reach!
Excel. Serve. Love. Brett Frick you did that and then some!
This is something only a few select GC baseball players have EVER been calledβ¦
