Nothing worth staying for. So I'm going to see if @IHGhotels or @HiltonHotels will match my status and offer anything more useful.

In short, promise benefits that cannot be realized for being on of the highest tier, most loyal customers, and you lose that high value customer.

In those 150 nights, I have been upgraded on the spot (something they promise to do if they have the room), maybe seven times? Maybe 20 nights out of 150 they had a better than average room to give me.
I don't need to be special, but tell me what my (17 year) loyalty gets me?

She can neither give me that one, nor extend my benefits after another denial. Her supervisor can't either. Basically "sucks for you." is the response.
Bottom line - Marriott's promise to someone who has stayed more than 150 nights in the last two years is woefully unfulfilled.

Now it's the end of the year and... denied again. So five of those nights will expire.

I called the dedicated Titanium line and first explained to a woman in the Philippines what was going on I know they cannot always fulfill requests.

For those you who don't know, Titanium takes 75 nights a year (I don't have the credit card). I will get there again this year. One of the benefits is "guaranteed" upgrade nights - 10 of them I can use when I want, to upgrade my room.

One idea to consider... I think that the modern church IS the problem. It propagates this false version. The "industrial church complex."
