Canada’s labour productivity (GDP per hour worked) is one of the poorest in the Western Hemisphere and significantly trails the rest of the G7. While it outperforms developing Latin American nations, Canada ranks near the bottom among advanced Western economies.
So much for mass immigration it's a millstone around our necks!
New Pipeline Alberta to Ontario?
One new battery away from obsolecence.
A lightweight, 1000-km range battery with fast-charge times that operates flawlessly at 0° C would be a massive leap. While it would decimate consumer gasoline demand, it would not spell the complete "end" of the petroleum industry.
Why It Would Decimate the Oil Industry
Consumer Vehicle Dominance: With a 1000-km range and ultra-fast charging, range anxiety and cold-weather performance—primary consumer concerns—would disappear. This would rapidly push internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger cars toward obsolescence.
Oil Demand Collapse: Transportation accounts for the vast majority of global oil consumption. Transitioning personal and commercial fleet vehicles to electricity would trigger a catastrophic drop in global petroleum demand.
The combination of a 1,000 km range and a 15-minute recharge in 0°C weather represents the holy grail of electric vehicles. While all-solid-state or advanced semi-solid-state batteries promise this capability, mass-market commercial production at an affordable price is widely estimated to be 3 to 5 years away.
