@newscientist Banana peel with a pinch of cinnamon makes a delicious tea. You can tip the dregs onto your houseplants!
btw @ botanygeek no longer goes to James Wong 🤔
@newscientist
Catching up with March issues during Easter, I found this gem.
My family is wondering if the tour includes the salon in Strøget where my mum was Bohr's chiropodist?

GRRRRR.., Sugar beet farmers have the green light to use a banned pesticide deadly to bees. Bee-harming neonicotinoid use "makes a mockery" of ban. So a pointless crop is worth more than our wildlife!! How has this happened??? https://t.co/uj6Zkcscl9
@caitlinmoran Instead of banning disposable vapes they should be inflammable. Then, like the cigarettes they are a substance for, there would be no visible residue or litter
@FlowerdewBob Knitting gloves seems unlikely as it would be easier /cheaper to make wooden tools.
There's a youtube video suggesting they were used to 'knit' gold chains. That would work as gold is softer than bronze
Today the authorities in Iran announced today flogging this brave woman is according to the laws.
This tragic story should be the headline of those media that care about women, freedom, humanity and dignity.
In 21st-century this brave Iranian woman Roya Heshmati was flogged by the Islamic Republic for not covering her beautiful hair in public.
She received 74 lashes for the crime of posting a photo of herself without hjiab on her social media.
If you don't call such a regime, gender apartheid, then what do you call it?
Roya wasn’t broken, instead she even started to sing for #WomanLifeFreedom while she was flogged.
Yes, Iranian women are wounded but unbowed. Be our voice.
@benmacintyre1 Perhaps Dawe/ the guilty parties, 'knew' the code words but also many other possibilities and inserted them all in the crosswords? Only the correct ones were noticed of course https://t.co/UJtWxHUtnU.
Our diet is as great a threat to our economy as it is to our health. Nine times as great as previously thought. Whichever government is in power in 10 years time will be crippled by this if we don’t act.

@FlowerdewBob I often wonder how big the charitable sector of the economy is. Would any party cost a plan to bring essential services into the statutory remit? Probably not - taxes would likely double
Many of us have been led to believe that depression, and other mental health issues, stem from a simple chemical imbalance in the brain. Correct the chemicals, and your depression will get better.
@LucyAllenFWR@Ruthcrafts @M_Z_Harrison @thisnorthernboy Ditto. I'm 'old school' but coming round to creating my own radio/media content via podcasts and substack etc. as mainstream seems to mean a race to the bottom. If there is someone who does that for others I'd be interested
This afternoon I slept and dreamed it had all slipped away , that we were all ambling to the funeral of life . We were sobbing over Swallows and Small Coppers , crying about Cuckoos and porpoises , choking and gasping about rivers and meadows . And when I woke up . . . the world was on fire
@Philippa_Perry Instead of putting ourselves into limiting boxes, I prefer Venn diagrams which show the relationships between us and others. There's always an overlap
@higgledygarden@Faerydesigns I heard that in the days before Photoshop, models turned up for a shoot in a fur coat and nothing underneath. This avoided marks on the skin that cameras would have picked up. The taxi drivers & photographers waiting outside knew they were naked underneath
