Maturing is realizing that no couple actually cuddles to sleep. It’s a goodnight, rolling to opposite sides of the bed, one person snoring and farting, and the other scrolling x till 1am😂😂
He will go home tonight and blame himself for that L and it will affect how he shows up next szn. We just need EPL strikers to whisper “Your hairline ain’t real” every time they get a 1v1 with him.
A friend of mine once told me something that changed how I see relationships.
He said he was sitting in a restaurant with a lady he had just started talking to. In the middle of their conversation, she suddenly asked him a question.
“If we eventually get married and you lose your job one day, what would you do?”
My friend laughed and said, “I’ll find another job of course.”
But the lady shook her head and said something that shocked him.
She said calmly, “I’m asking because many women say they love a man, but the moment money disappears, respect disappears too.”
Then she added quietly:
“I don’t mind if life gets hard. I don’t mind if we start small. My only three rules are simple:
1. Be honest with me.
2. Don’t abandon your responsibilities as a man.
3. Don’t stop trying to build a better life.”
She looked at him and smiled.
“Money comes and goes. Character is what keeps a home standing.”
My simple advice to young men:
Do everything legitimately possible to build yourself and your finances.
In today’s world, money may not buy love — but it definitely buys respect and stability.
one time, i broke my aunty’s pot lid. expensive cookware with glass cover, it was hot; i picked it up, it burned me, i panicked and it fell off and shattered into tiny bits. i was scared till she returned cos i expected to be scolded, opened my piggyvest to replace the pot. i made fried rice and it was so nice, fried rice and peppered turkey so she had eaten and i was shaking trying to confess my crimes and after i did she said something i’ll never forget. “apologies don’t fix broken things, if nothing can be done to patch them together. Ugonna scolding you won’t bring this pot back so i would never but i would remember the taste of this food”. honestly, that changed a lot for me and this kinda reminded me of that moment. sometimes life deals you a hand you don’t expect but you can’t even realize what the next move is for others.
