Five years ago we broke ground in our little patch of Stenhouse with the first of our fruit trees and now weβve officially become an orchard π

The Woodland Trust will be in the garden on Thurs 18 Sept to launch an exciting initiative to plant more trees! π
Launch from 10am, free garden tree drop-in for local folk from 12pm until 2pm to plant in your own garden π³
A HUGE thank you to Debbie, the community champion from @Tesco Corstorphine, who has donated bulbs and compost to Good Roots! π±π We canβt wait to get planting and see these lovely bulbs bloom next Spring πΌ
Last week we said goodbye to a special member of the Good Roots community who has sadly passed.
Raymond had planted, potted and mowed for a years with us and we wanted to make sure we donβt forget him. Thanks for everything Raymond π

2024 saw even more friends join us for growing, chatting and drinking plenty of tea and coffee, as well as being the year that the garden became even more accessible with the building of our accessibility beds! π

GOOD ROOTS IS 3! π₯³ Three years ago we broke ground in our little patch of Stenhouse and planted the first of our fruit trees πΏ Since then weβve built several beds, grown a variety of tasty fruit and veg and met loads of brilliant people in our neighbourhood π
The Good Roots Garden is getting ready to open its gates once more! Today a small team of helpers came to check out the progress on the new accessibility path and to build and prepare the accessible raised beds, as well as build some new ground beds πΏ Opening date coming soon!
It may have been our last regular session of the year, but there will be some one-off sessions during the cooler months to get involved with - keep an eye out for more information on being part of building our new wheelchair-friendly beds! π¨
It might have been windy today but that didnβt stop us enjoying the last Thursday session of the year! π¬οΈπ

On Friday we welcomed some Beavers back to the garden who had an awesome time completing their gardening badge! πΏ
They dug up the potatoes they had planted π₯ checked out the bugs in the compost bin πͺ± and played some games around the garden!
