Rap wasn’t dead, just commercially sidelined. Odumodu didn’t resuscitate the core, he made a version of it that could compete with Afrobeats for attention. that’s impact. It’s not the same as single handedly saving the culture.

if you’re honest with yourself, rap in Nigeria was very close to dead. but the kind of cpr he gave the genre was so impactful, it’s impossible to ignore.
