The Googler Orchestra is a community music program of Alphabet employees and affiliates, and is not an official organization of Google or Alphabet. It was founded in 2016 by a small group of passionate employees, and has since grown into a full symphonic orchestra operation.
The Googler Orchestra has achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest conductor's baton! It measures 16 feet 1⅞ inches long and was used to conduct a performance of Offenbach’s "Can-Can" on June 23, 2023, at Charlie's Cafe on the Google campus in Mountain View, CA.
In addition to Offenbach's Can-Can, the orchestra performed Leonore Overture No.3 by Ludwig van Beethoven, the Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy, Summertime by George Gershwin (arr. Melanie Thorne), and the Afro-American Symphony by William Grant Still.
