@AFCPet @Flannyballs We are competing with a side that has Foden, Alvarez, Mahrez etc as regularly used “squad options”. I’m in for spending the cash if it’s the right player for it even for that type of role. Tends to fall back to quality of player (naturally) and opportunity cost of cash spent

@AFCPet @Flannyballs I’ll discount Zinchenko as we’d all be happy to sign a Zinny all over again at those levels and that’s just the nature of where our wage bill is headed (for a Zinny signing). But I agree the debate becomes whether you can just buy Trossard / Tomi type signings for those roles

@AFCPet @Flannyballs Fundamentally it may require spending in the range of those sums of money for players taking positions 12-17 if we ever want to truly compete in this landscape Havertz fitting that bill is a tougher one to get one’s head around particularly given the club receiving the funds

@AFCPet @Flannyballs Lower half of the table and give us higher chance of success in those fixtures than before whilst also giving genuine options through the front three (/ MOs) role for whenever needed against superior opposition so the drop off is limited that’s a success
