这是1939年真实录像，法���最后一次断头台处决现场，罪犯临刑前吓得全身瘫软、满脸恐惧。这是1939年6月17日，法国历史上最后一次公开使用断头台（Guillotine）处决罪犯的场景，被处决的是连环杀人犯欧仁·魏德曼（Eugen Weidmann），他1908年出生于德国法兰克福，从小劣迹斑斑，成年后在加拿大、德国因盗窃、抢劫多次入狱，1937年流窜至法国后，伙同罗杰·米隆（Roger Millon）、让·布朗（Jean Blanc）实施多起绑架、抢劫、谋杀，受害者包括美国舞蹈家德科文（De Koven）、司机、护士、剧院制作人、反纳粹活动家、房地产经纪人共6人，其中还涉及一位法国贵族，经凡尔赛法庭审判后被判处死刑。
行刑当日凌晨，狱警进入凡尔赛圣皮埃尔��狱（Saint-Pierre Prison, Versailles）的牢房，告知魏德曼将以断头台处决，他情绪瞬间失控，靠在墙角掩面痛哭，工作人员出于人道主义为他准备了崭新的西装，寓意“清清白白来，干干净净走”。
换好衣服的魏德曼被押出牢房时，眼神满是紧张不安，狱警请来神父为他祷告，祷告结束后工作人员脱掉他的外套、剪掉衣领以防影响行刑，此时魏德曼已吓得双腿发软、满脸恐惧，身体瘫倒在工作人员身上。行刑人员早已在监狱外广场组装好断头台，这台刑具在法国有数百年历史，铡刀重达50公斤，固定在3米高台上，曾处决过法国国王路易十六（Louis XVI）等众多人物。
由于断头台安装故障、刽子手与检察官争执法定行刑时间，处决延误45分钟，推迟到凌晨4点30分，天已大亮，监狱外广场挤满数百名围观民众，咖啡馆灯火通明，服务员售卖香肠、三明治，人群吹口哨、嘲笑宪兵、欢呼起哄，像等待马戏表演。魏德曼被两名助手按倒在断头台上，肩膀在深色木架上显得异常苍白，随着一声令下，铡刀落下，他的生命戛然而止。
现场部分观众冲破警戒线，用手帕蘸取魏德曼的血液作为纪念品，场面混乱不堪，这一幕被民众偷拍的胶片曝光后，法国舆论哗然，法国总统��尔贝·勒布伦（Albert Lebrun）随即下令永久禁止公开处决，此后断头台仅在监狱庭院内使用，直至1977年法国彻底废除死刑。值得注意的是，当时17岁的英国演员克里斯托弗·李（Christopher Lee）也在围观人群中，亲眼目睹了这场处决，这一经历后来也影响了他的演艺生涯。
