We condemn the arrests of 52 pro-democracy politicians who ran in the primaries last July that drew 600,000+ HKers. Among the arrested were veteran lawmakers, as well as Jeffrey Andrews, first ethnic minority social worker to run. They are charged with “subversion to the state”.
Hong Kong’s National Security Law makes a mockery of justice. @JimmyLaiApple’s only “crime” is speaking the truth about the Chinese Communist Party’s authoritarianism and fear of freedom. Charges should be dropped and he should be released immediately.
I'm saddened by the news that @joshuawongcf, @chowtingagnes & Ivan Lam have been jailed for their activism. These brave young people are symbols of freedom & democracy in #HongKong, values that we will never stop fighting for.
This is outrageous. It is absolutely a political purge. @joshuawongcf cant attend his university’s graduation ceremony and @chowtingagnes cant celebrate her birthday tmr.
Is it a crime to demand the police to be impartial enforcement?
Certainly not. Rmb, they are not criminal.
1. It’s devastating to witness three of my former colleagues, Joshua, Agnes, Ivan are jailed. The sentencing is absurd. Retweet if you have the same demands:
1.Immediate release of the trio
2.Stop prosecuting under National Security Law
3.Sanction accountable govt officials
#JoshuaWong 13.5m in jail - via lawyers, “it’s not the end of the fight. Ahead of us is another challenging battleground. We’re now joining the battle in prison along with many brave protestors, less visible yet essential in the fight for democracy and freedom for HK.
