@PhillipAdams_1 Conservatives, it's written, believe in social stability, & if at all, gradual evolutionary change. Liberal philosophy sought change & was shared by both of Australia's main parties until the likes of the Mad Monk took over one & buried it in negativity.
Why, Your Treasureship?
@anders_aslund He's a disgrace. America has shown the world that 'The Ugly American' is an aphorism more than a casual insult - He runs the country because he won a popular election TWICE... It's the result of a distorted culture that obsesses about one concept of liberty & ignores the other.

It's outrageous that GOP made the War Powers measure symbolic after sitting on their hands while Trump lied endlessly, trampled over the rule of law and administrative conventions. He's complicit in war crimes. Betrayed Ukraine & berated loyal allies.

Probs good US military site Military Blue with seemingly credible pastiche recreation of Ukrainian drone warfare mastery: From the would-be US ally that Trump has endlessly ridiculed, berated & betrayed.
Vote wisely America, yr future truly depends on it.
Too little, too late. GOP's unconscionable self-serving grovelling to MAGA has seriously damaged America's credibility in the world & cost previously loyal allies very significant economic & security damage.
American voters must think hard. Media too.

@PulaRJS You know that a PM is chair of Cabinet & speaks for the Gov't - otherwise first among equals... but not the way media report it.
PM doesn't dictate his party policy, just speaks it.
And no, media isn't on another planet, but so irresponsible we'd be better off if they were.
@NickBryantNY "Brexit was the start of a political recession in Britain..."
Evidence & argument? ... didn't think so.
Media industry 70's on was more & more laser-focused on appeal to audience (++ since social media) & has nearly completely abandoned national interest responsibility ethic.
@Jonathan_K_Cook Manipulation of the contest for political power by vested interests is no less a threat to democracy than violence inclined idealogues.
The defences that once existed were journalistic ethics and widespread community engagement.
Social media & political class
@Andrea26860166@adamemedia1 What's wrong with people that think that views expressed in social media go to anyone but a small subset of those with similar enthusiasms?
The media isn't the voice of the people & neither is a general election in any sense other than it identifies the group of people who are collectively sovereign authority. Media cannot logically sit above that authority, but the sleaze riddled political class exploit not serve.
@adamemedia1 Well, the two are by no means equivalent in demonstrated abilities (education & career achievement). But yes, the Jewish lobby is a powerful & endlessly persistent force. But they are not the only ultra tribal culture, just most focussed.
Westminster system values are dead.
@NickBryantNY The media isn't the voice of the people & neither is a general election in any sense other than it identifies the group of people who are collectively sovereign authority.
The media cannot logically sit above that authority, it's supreme. Nevertheless, that's the image fostered.
@NickBryantNY Surely the rotten core of UK politics is the predentialization of power, away from the Westminster model of Cabinet governance where the PM is just the first among equals.
Both major studies identify the media as primary structural driver.
Media is image... thus unaccountable.
@JoeCookJ Oh good!
Democracies facing US fostered influence crisis & Europe under Russian attack, so the Poms ditch an intellectually talented & strategically aware PM for a 'make-everyone-happy-chappie'.
