It is a glorious time to be an American.
On this Fourth of July, I am thinking about the remarkable endurance of our Constitution and our Republic. For nearly 250 years, they have sustained us through uncertainty, disagreement, sacrifice, and renewal.
Today reminds us that there is far more that can unite us than divide us. If we keep faith with one another, celebrate ambition, and hold fast to our best vision for the future, America will continue to thrive.
I am grateful for the privilege of serving, working, and walking alongside so many people I cherish.
Happy 4th of July!!
I had the privilege of being on a panel speaking to a large group of university presidents about the power of the 4-H movement. Grateful to @APLU_News for the opportunity.
I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Wood during my time as president of Brown University. Despite his immense distinction, he was a humble and deeply thoughtful human being. As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, much of what we know about the nation’s founding era rests on Gordon Wood's extraordinary scholarship.
For nearly 40 years at Brown, Gordon S. Wood helped shape the study of early American history through his teaching, mentorship and award-winning scholarship.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning historian leaves an extraordinary legacy at Brown and far beyond, influencing generations of students, scholars and readers.

It has been nearly a year since I “retired,” and I promised Dr. Benson that I would go into hibernation. After a year, yesterday was my first time at a public event on campus. How about that baseball team. Let’s Go!
This morning, I testified before the Senate Commerce Committee on the Protect College Sports Act. Student-athletes deserve to benefit from their talents and to leave college with the habits and education that prepare them to lead. To protect that opportunity, universities need a stable system with fair rules and the resources to support women’s and Olympic sports.
I'm grateful to @SenatorCantwell and @SenTedCruz for their bipartisan leadership to save something worth saving.
I want to thank Senators Cantwell and Cruz for an extraordinary act of bipartisanship in introducing the Protect College Sports Act today.
This bill will bring much-needed structural and governance changes to ensure that both Universities and College athletes will have a fair and positive future, and it will preserve the intercollegiate spirit, which is so essential and a great differentiator of our American Colleges and Universities.
🚨 NEW: Chairman @SenTedCruz and Ranking Member @SenatorCantwell have struck an agreement to #savecollegesports.

In a world where knowledge is doubling almost every day, we must support our knowledge factories to remain competitive.

Mary Ellen Withrow was the 40th Treasurer of the United States and signed more $ bills than any American. And I have the record for signing the most diplomas. Check your
$ bills and you will find her name on many of them.
. @JamesCarville is a true American icon. I had an enjoyable time hearing him and @Reince Priebus discuss civil discourse in our nation. Wonderful evening in New Albany, Ohio!
I had the real pleasure of spending the day with @DondePlowman and her team at @UTKnoxville. The progress of this great Land Grant university under her leadership is a real gift to the people of Tennessee. But, as the former Chancellor of Vanderbilt I still hate that dang singing of Rocky Top!
On April 23rd 1564, William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-Upon-Avon. He continues to influence the language and the thinking of the English-speaking world. Happy Birthday, Will!
These two gentlemen were critical to my time at @WestVirginiaU. One was the chair of the Board who hired me in 2014, and the other was the chair when I retired. Love and appreciate them both.
From my friend John Glenn in Friendship 7 to Artemis II the insatiable curiosity of the human spirit is constantly seeking new frontiers and beyond. God Speed John Glenn…and all who follow!
Welcome home Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy! 🫶
The Artemis II astronauts have splashed down at 8:07pm ET (0007 UTC April 11), bringing their historic 10-day mission around the Moon to an end.
