For those wondering why I’ve been mostly absent from X lately, the answer is unfortunately pretty simple: my health took a sudden and unexpected turn for the worse.
I’m currently sitting in a hospital bed after being admitted with a kidney abscess that’s roughly the size of a baseball. Later today, doctors will be performing a procedure to drain it while they continue trying to determine exactly why this keeps happening.
This isn’t my first kidney abscess. I went through something very similar about a year ago. At the time, I was told the procedure and antibiotics had successfully eliminated the infection. But if I’m being honest, a few months afterward I started feeling that familiar soreness in my lower back again. Nothing severe enough to send me running to a doctor, just enough to make me occasionally wonder if something was still there.
Fast forward to now, and here we are again.
The good news is that I listened to my body. As things continued getting worse, I called my sister and asked her to take me to the ER. After speaking with the doctors, it sounds like that decision may have saved me from a much more serious situation.
At the moment, I’m running on very little sleep. Between the pain, the hospital environment, and having a thousand thoughts running through my head, sleep has been difficult to come by.
The last six months have felt like one long roller coaster. Every time it seems like life is finally settling down, something else decides to kick the door open. Some of it has been health-related, some personal, some just life being life.
For now, my focus is simple: get through today’s procedure, get some answers, and start moving forward again.
Thank you to everyone who’s reached out, checked in on me, or wondered where I’ve disappeared to. It means more than you know.
