Refuting dumb arguments against physical games🚀
🗣️“85% of players buy digital”
✅15% or even 5% in this industry is still millions of people bringing in hundreds of millions of not billions o revenue
🗣️“Netflix and Spotify ended movie and music Blu-Rays and CDs”
✅Movies are still being sold on Blu-Ray and 4K UHD Blu-Rays, and music is still released on CDs, vinyl records and even collectible cassette tapes that actually work, despite being far smaller and less demanding than video games which can go over 100GB
🗣️“I haven’t bought a physical game for 10 years! It’s obsolete”
✅Your experience with games does not automatically reflect everyone else’s. If you don’t care, don’t get in the way
🗣️“It’s expensive to make games on disc”
✅Games won’t be cheaper when man all digital. You will pay the same price for a glorified rental that can be taken any time due to licensing agreements or account loss/suspension
🗣️“You’re too broke, you want to buy second hand and resell games”
✅Being a bootlicker to corporations that don’t know you exist, does not make you any less broke than those you accuse and posture in front of behind a keyboard
Physical games should always be an option. Video games are far more than just a file to download or “access” to gain. They hold sentimental value to players and collectors.
Raise your voices, players, game makers, gaming and memorabilia stores. Let us overturn this predatory decision!
Video games are an art form, not just a business and the value players hold for them should be honored and not reduced to a code to redeem and a download to revoke😎
The year is 2030
You bought the FF7 Remake Trilogy digitally on Playstation.
Nintendo just bought out Square Enix.
*As of [date] FF7 REMAKE, REBIRTH, REVELATION, will no longer be available..."
If you don't start saying "No" RIGHT NOW, thats the future you will inherit.
One of the worst moves you could make.
Fast internet isn't available everywhere.
Physical is ownership.
Digital is renting under the lie of owning.
You go all digital, you better not price anything above $40, you're not paying for manufacturing/shipping/shelf cost anymore.
Sony is currently charging $70 for God of War Ragnarok digitally. It is $32 at Wal-Mart. The game is 4 years old.
People will no longer have options after 2028 and will HAVE to go directly to Sony’s digital storefront and pay whatever PlayStation says.
When was the last time you made a game?
You’ve come after me before and it’s pathetic. We all know the problems in gamedev are executives who don’t know how to manage or fund projects. Just like you couldn’t manage or fund your own projects.
Yet developers are constantly harassed by people who know nothing about what we do out of complete ignorance. Then get angry because we don’t want to hear their opinion on why unreal engine sucks? Like they even know what it is beyond a YouTube video.
People want to know why their games suck? Not because the chefs can’t cook, but because the restaurant owner keeps cutting costs, firing the chefs and telling them to make meals they know people don’t want.
I don’t mind if people tell me games I work on sucked. I learned early in my career I’d be working on some bad games. APB taught me that. But like many devs I just work hard at my own little corner. I don’t take it personally even if someone says my art is bad. But I don’t have to listen to someone tell me how to do my job better when they don’t know what my job even is.
Or tell me how it is to work in games when they don’t know.
Nobody ever starts these conversations in good faith and escalates them to “oh she doesn’t want to hear what I think about game design even though she isn’t a designer? Wow she’s everything wrong with games… concord or something. Wah.”
@RIPNDIP@Pigeon_child_ No one is believing your bullshit.
You made the stolen image your pfp, and you mocked the original artist. Nothing was 'automated'.
Fuck off!
@skymagpie It's not just villains either. It's any character. It's lore altogether.
-Thrall turning into a Monty Python joke.
-Blood elf lore being entirely forgotten.
-Creating a new race and cannibalizing lore of existing races.
-Creating new, interesting characters and killing them off!
@skymagpie I know it's like beating a dead horse, but I blame Danuser.
They all want to put their mark into Warcraft, not realizing that what they think is good or cool, the playerbase at large mostly rejects it.
