Afrobeats And Its Links To US Secret Intelligence
Have you ever found yourself wondering why Afrobeats - the joyful soundtrack to the "Africa Rising" era from the late 2000s through the early 2010s - seems to have lost much of its energy and lustre of recent? Does it seem to you like the music no longer belongs to the fans and has become a distant, expensive product that nobody can relate with anymore?
You are not imagining it - in fact the reality of what has happened to Afrobeats is a lot darker than you would possibly imagine. Far from just a fresh music genre that embodied the sounds and aspirations of a new generation across the continent, it has been coopted into the arsenal of the US government's extensive foreign influence and interference tools. In fact, your favourite Afrobeats artist, as incredible as it sounds, most likely now has a handler permanently assigned to them by the US State Department.
In this special report, The Spearhead Senior Reporter Mckay Chukwu examines a story that has been hiding in plain sight for years, detailing the State Department's well-funded cultural interference infrastructure which has been deployed all over the Global South to bend entire populations and their governments toward the foreign policy goals of the US government.
I stole this idea and now use it with every single employee.
Itās the best illustration Iāve seen of teaching someone to be high agency.
It says there are 5 levels of work:
Level 1: āThere is a problem.ā
Level 2: āThere is a problem, and Iāve found some causes.ā
Level 3: āHereās the problem, here are some possible causes, and here are some possible solutions.ā
Level 4: āHereās the problem, hereās what I think caused it, here are some possible solutions, and hereās the one I think we should pick.ā
Level 5: āI identified a problem, figured out what caused it, researched how to fix it, and I fixed it. Just wanted to keep you in the loop.ā
Using this framework, hereās what I say to every new employeeā¦
You will live at Level 4 from Day 1 and as we build trust you will rise to Level 5.
Being high agency doesnāt just mean tackling problems in this way. It means your entire way of working should be oriented to being a Level 4+ employee.
Plz feel free to steal it as well.
And ty @stephsmithio for the framework!
@AskMichaelTaiwo How do people like this make it to your interview stage and honest people with honest applications don't? Because, obviously, whatever motivation letter he submitted, wasn't written by himself.
Jason Momoa say he played Drogo so well Hollywood thought he couldnāt speak English
āThey thought I couldnāt speak English, after the show killed the character the calls stopped not slowed stopped we were starving after Game of Thrones I couldnāt get workā
āI have two children itās like Iāve got to feed my kids Iām completely in debt, I was the most talked about man on television and I couldnāt get hiredā
āSo I wrote and directed my own low budget film Road to Paloma to prove I could do something other than grunt on a horse, then Zack Snyder casted me as Aquamanā
Early in my career, I was fiercely loyal to a manager I deeply admired (Letās call him Dave). I followed him into meetings, stayed up late organizing his executive status reports, and even joined his team huddle calls from my car outside church on Sunday mornings. I was all-in, determined to deliver results for his team.
Then came a pivotal moment. I was in the hospital with my newborn son and had declined a PMO (Project Management Office) team meeting. Another IT Director, Kim (who led QA), spoke up: āYour rockstar Project Manager Akin just welcomed his second son. What should we do for him? I think we should let him work remotely for the next month to bond with his family.ā
Daveās reply stunned her: āHeās a great guy, but my promotion is coming up. I canāt afford to be seen as a weak leader.ā
Kim was visibly shaken. That evening she texted me: āLetās talk when you can.ā When I called, her first words were direct, āYou either change PMO teams, or Iām moving you to my QA team as a lead. Your Program Manager does not have your best interest at heart.ā
True to my loyal nature, I chose to ride it out with Dave as I was the most experienced PM on several high-risk projects at the time. Kim respected my decision.
Four months later, Dave was promoted to PMO Director. His first major move? A reorg. He knew a Program Manager role needed to be filled. I had just developed the new Project Office Governance model and introduced Agile into our Software Development Lifecycle. I had the highest project success rate on the team, I was the most senior and battle-tested PM they had.
Instead, he opened the role to external candidates and brought in an old college buddy with far less experience and credentials.
I was hurt, salty, and felt betrayed. But rather than dwell in resentment, I channeled that energy into growth. I earned my Scrum Master certification and self-studied key Healthcare IT regulations.
About two months later, Kim stopped by my desk. āLetās chat in the conference room.ā She smiled and said, āI saw your updated LinkedIn profile, congratulations on the certifications. I know youāre probably thinking of quitting, but Iād rather you join my team as a Manager. You can work remotely as needed to be closer to your family for the rest of the year.ā
I was shocked. What started as frustration had quietly positioned me for an opportunity I hadnāt even chased.
A month later, I transitioned to the new role. The PMO Director I had once slaved for suddenly saw me as a threat. His college buddy Program Manager with zero qualifications and fake CV began challenging me in cross team meetings where I exposed flaws and gaps with their deliverables.
It soon became clear I had been the pillar behind the glowing reviews the PMO received.
A year later, Dave and his college buddy were fired for poor performance. Kimās QA department merged with the PMO. I stepped in and ran the PMO for six months before leaving for a better opportunity. Kim moved on shortly after to become CIO at another healthcare IT firm.
We remain close friends to this day and I learnt how to identify leaders with my best interest at heart.
Since then, I have I learned that āLoyalty is a good virtue, but self-investment is always smarterā.
What career lessons have you learned ?
Hi everybody. Welcome to the release of the second lecture from my extensive tour archives.Ā Ā Weāve been working together late at night when my symptoms recede enough so that I can finally concentrate to make this release a possibility.
At the same time recently, I've been able to write a little bit and I'm working on three essays at the moment, which I hope to finish and release in the near future. One deals with the climate lies propagated by the socialists and the leftists. Another deals with the issue of the alphabet mafia and the associated Pride movement. And the final one deals with the so-called ārape gangsā in the UK, asking whether the terminology ārape gangā, which is definitely an improvement over āgrooming gangā, is sufficient to accurately describe the magnitude of the crimes that are being committed.
In any case, I'm working on these now, hoping to contribute something to the ongoing public debate about these crucially important issues. I'm unhappy with my silence, however necessitated it might be by the conditions of my illness. I would like to get back to.
Thanks for your time and attention. I hope you enjoy listening to this second lecture as much as I enjoyed delivering it.
This is the second lecture from the We Who Wrestle With God tour.
What does it mean that your God is whatever you put first? Why are the stories that grip you not false but hyper-real? Why is work identical to sacrifice, and what does that reveal about the nature of the covenantal relationship between humanity and the spirit of being? What happened when Cain offered his second rate effort and why is that same temptation available to every one of us in every decision we make? What is the story of Job really about? And what is the one promise that runs through the entire biblical corpus for those who are willing to offer their best?
These are not abstract questions. They are the questions that determine the structure of your life whether you answer them consciously or not.
Lecture filmed in Adler Theatre in Davenport, Iowa on February 18, 2024.
