The work was published in the Journal of Infection.

The trial's chief investigator argued that this new class of universal vaccines is "future-proofed," protecting against many variants simultaneously and potentially against related viruses that haven't yet emerged, meaning that if developed before an outbreak begins, lives could be saved and lockdowns avoided.
