Here's the high-level summary of C-27, the new privacy and AI bill. The privacy side looks an awful lot like 2020's C-11 with possible slight tweaks. Plus AI guardrails so it's "developed and deployed in a way that identifies, assesses and mitigates the risks of harm and bias"
The new federal privacy commissioner Philippe Dufresne will face an immediate test. Former commissioner Therrien called the prior bill “a step back overall” for privacy. The government is bringing most of it back in Bill C-27.
