To put into context just how large the black-bellied salamander can be relative to other desmogs, the seal and ocoee salamanders here are full adults. In fact, this is one of the larger seals I measured.

I found this cool caterpillar last night. I believe it is an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail caterpillar. They have distinct false eyes, making it seem like their head is larger than it is.
