30 years ago today I had the great privilege of becoming Pennsylvania’s governor. So many people helped me get to this moment for which I will forever be grateful. Best job ever!
Many a reporter has walked the halls of PA’s Capitol holding public servants to account. Yours truly included! Few, if any, did it better or worked harder than @JanMurphy. All of us owe her a debt of gratitude as she leaves @PennLive. Jan was tough but always fair - best wishes!!
Thinking of my friend, President George H.W. Bush, on what would have been his 100th birthday. Today is a chance to reflect on his remarkable commitment to public service. Most of all, I’m recalling special moments like these.
I lost a dear friend and colleague. Our nation lost a selfless and indefatigable public servant in Joe Lieberman. I’m still in shock at this news. Joe and I just spoke yesterday as he remained focused on policy issues to keep Americans safe. That was Joe. This is a huge loss.
Pittsburgh lost an extraordinary leader with the passing of former @CarnegieMellon President Jerry Cohon. I had the pleasure of working with Jerry on a number of tech-focused initiatives to better the region and PA. His death is a terrible loss for all those in the CMU family.
Very sorry to hear of the passing of Jim Roddey. Back in 2000, during a time of great change and transition in Allegheny County, Jim led with dignity and integrity. Michele and I send condolences to his family and friends.
I have wonderful memories attending PA Society weekend. As friends and colleagues make the trip into NYC, I hope they’ll take a moment to read this essay from yours truly and my friend, Ed Rendell. Thanks to @CityAndStatePA for the opportunity to reflect.

The attacks perpetrated on Israeli civilians were the acts of terrorists who have long sought the destruction of a Jewish state. The broader world community must condemn Hamas and its barbaric assault that targeted children and the elderly. I stand with Israel and her people. 🇮🇱
Time marches on. The years pass. But let’s make certain our memories of 9/11 never fade. Take a moment today to recall all those who were tragically lost … and who acted with unselfish heroism. It’s never too late to learn their stories. Start now by visiting @FriendsFlight93
Michele and I have heavy hearts today at the news that Pennsylvania has lost former First Lady Ellen Casey. When we first moved into the governor’s residence in January 1995, no one was more welcoming, open and gracious to our family than Ellen Casey.
Michele and I send our condolences to her son, Senator Bob Casey, along with all of her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were blessed to have had Ellen in their lives, as we all were.
