Tinubu himself opposed subsidy removal in 2012, calling it harmful then—yet now labels the same idea ignorant. He celebrates higher FAAC allocations for states while ignoring the brutal human cost: soaring petrol prices, food inflation, transport misery and eroded purchasing power that have left millions poorer.

Increased state revenues do not equal citizen welfare; governments grow richer while households suffer. Reducing complex policy debate to personal insults and selective history avoids accountability for the chaos of abrupt removal without adequate safety nets. It prioritises fiscal optics over lived hardship, revealing more political deflection than genuine economic insight.
