Are You Loading Your Patient’s Enough?

Anytime I work with someone performing strengthening exercises, I want to be sure they are loading the movements enough to stimulate progress. This is hard for some people, especially those without a long training age or who may be apprehensive from their injury.

Here’s an easy question I ask after every set:

“Was that easy, moderate, or hard?”  

Unless they say “hard,” we’ll probably load it more in the next set.
