A Falun Gong practitioner was attacked outside the Chinese Consulate in Toronto while peacefully protesting the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Video shows a man wearing a PRC national flag jacket tearing down banners, pushing the practitioner, and kicking another person who was filming. He allegedly threatened to shoot the practitioner and claimed that the public sidewalk was “Chinese territory,” citing China’s Anti-Secession Law.

Toronto Police are investigating the incident. Public Safety Canada said the government takes foreign interference and transnational repression very seriously.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over the harassment and transnational repression of Falun Gong practitioners in Canada and globally.
