What could be breaching law is if they use that info entered into license plate reading software to track you. P.I.s have ethical contracts forbidding this.

@PNWRadTrad @ProjectConstitu @RealCandaceO @StateFarm This is a known private investigations hack. State Farm, however, doesn’t give out full VINs. Another insurance company did, though. It’s to make things easier for the consumer but P.I.s can use it to get vehicle info for surveillance.

@ProjectConstitu @RealCandaceO But it’s not illegal…It’s an insurance quoting tool anyone can use if they put in your name, address, phone number and DOB. If this is illegal, I will tell you private investigators are breaking the law on the daily because this is how they get vehicle information.

@elonmusk I believe it. I work in a mid-size P.I. firm and we investigate a lot of insurance claims. The amount that are fraudulent are shocking. The only way some Americans are going to “get it” is if the financial noose loosens around all our necks. Money talks.
