Joining the mass “X”odus (get it?)
Finding it sad as I mainly come on here to see what friends of my dad’s are up to. @AndyCSP liked Twitter a lot, and it’s weird to leave his account here.
Social media is silly, but fuck Musk for ruining this one.

Grandma also said - “I tried to do full frontal but I didn’t want to show blood, gore or anything to sicken, because people wouldn’t look at it then. And what you want to do is make people look, make pretty colours and make it agreeable, and in that way make people look at life.”
TW: abortion.
“In 1998, the year of a Portuguese referendum debate on abortion, Paula Rego poured her fierce, formidable passion into 10 large paintings set in backstreet abortion clinics. These were a direct gesture of protest at the cruelty of anti-abortion laws...” 🧵
Safe, legal abortion being a factor in the outcome of this election is why I want to share some of my grandma’s work this today. The series was so powerful that it’s been credited with helping sway the second referendum in 2007, which legalised abortion.
Fun fact - I also got to come on this trip to meet Mo, she was so warm and funny.
I think because she sensed I was a bit of an awkward quiet child, she gave me a tin of quality street to hand out, but told me I had to ask each person their favourite flavour, making me talk.
The Comedy Store Players.
This photograph was taken on the day that Mo Mowlam (the first President of The Comedy Store Players) had organised a Players' tour of the Houses of Parliament and Number 10, in February 2001.
We had just made the short walk from Parliament Square along Whitehall to Downing Street.
A five minute walk at most.
But it took longer.
It seemed that everyone wanted to shake her hand or give her a hug or a peck on the cheek or take a photograph.
And Mo had time for them all.
She was warm, gentle and always ready to listen and - when she talked to you – she held your hand.
