As Osun goes to the polls on 15 August, IFA calls for a peaceful, free, fair and inclusive election.

Dr. Kole Shettima mentioned in his remarks that,

"if you look at the institutions of traditional political recruitment, a child will go to their grandparents to stay with them. They will learn and imbibe several forms of cultures, and then in that process, they will be appointed as a leader before they become what they become.

But here we are, and as a country, where we think that money determines everything, people amass so much wealth, and they don't have any responsibility to anyone."

He ended his remarks with a statement:

"To me it is to really rectify the process of political recruitment in our country. "

As the Village Square Conversation came to a close, the moderator(@rex_rukeh) reminded us that leading with our humanity begins with action, innovation, and community-driven solutions.

Stakeholder Feedback from the 2026 FCT Area Council Election

@gracejjerry, Executive Director of @inclusivefrnds, expressed disappointment with the 2026 FCT Area Election regarding INEC’s preparedness for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Providing a comparative analysis of the 2022 election, she noted that in the 2022 election, polling units were equipped with ballot guides, magnifying glasses, and other assistive materials for PWDs. However, in the 2026 election, these accommodations were largely absent. The only visible material in most of the polling units observed was the Form EC30E (PWD Incident/Observation Form), while other promised assistive materials were missing.

Grace Jerry highlighted that @inecnigeria had previously assured the PWD community that these materials would be provided, making this lack of provision a regression from the previous election.
