Every Origin in Its Own Right • Happy Champagne Day
Today, the world celebrates Champagne Day – a moment to honour the importance of origin. While traditional method bottle fermentation connects fine sparkling wines across oceans, it is soil, climate and spirit of place that give each bottle its identity. As a House crafting sparkling wine in South Africa and England, we believe every origin deserves to be celebrated on its own terms.

What Sits Behind Recognition • Recognition is one moment. What leads to it happens over months and years.

It begins with decisions made in the vineyard and continues through blending, maturation and repeated tasting in the cellar. Each stage asks something of the team - what to select, what to refine, what needs more time and when an expression is ready.

These decisions rarely make the headline. Together, they shape the standard against which we continue to measure our work.

Because at Graham Beck, recognition is not where the pursuit ends. It is one measure of how far the work has come - and where we go next.

Veritas • Latin for truth.
At the 2026 Veritas Awards, Cuvée Clive 2019 and Blanc de Blancs 2020 each earned 93 points and Double Gold. Extended lees ageing of five years or more shaped both wines - time given with purpose, building depth, complexity and fine texture.
Each vintage is another turn in a continuing pursuit: learning, refining and moving ever closer to the perfect bubble.
A recognition of the collective craft, precision and patience that continue to shape the work of Cellarmaster Pierre de Klerk and our winemaking team.

From the Same Soil • The Graham Beck Cap Classique Story
The vineyard that gave us our first Blanc de Blancs is being replanted - original vines making way for a new generation, while the Robertson soil that has always defined our wines remains exactly where it belongs. It is a fitting image for where the House stands today. Pierre de Klerk and Lizemari Geldenhuys build on over three decades of craft while asking what Graham Beck can become next.

New vines. The same soil. The same pursuit of the perfect bubble.

The Craft Carries Forward • The Graham Beck Cap Classique Story

A House is only ever as enduring as the knowledge it passes on. Pierre de Klerk spent 16 harvests alongside Pieter Ferreira - a partnership shaped by shared seasons and the kind of understanding only time in the cellar can bring. "You've put your life and soul into bubbles," Pieter once told him, "and bubbles into your blood." Today, Pierre leads the cellar alongside Winemaker Lizemari Geldenhuys, carrying that craft forward with fresh questions and new ideas. As Pieter reflects: "I can walk away with a happy heart. I know the brand is in good hands." The people change. The pursuit of the perfect bubble does not.

A Singular Pursuit • The Graham Beck Cap Classique Story.
Many producers diversify. Graham Beck did the opposite.
As the House's understanding of its vineyards deepened, so did its conviction. The decision was made to focus entirely on Cap Classique - a rare commitment to a single craft that gave the team freedom to refine, innovate and master one style above all others.

Precision in Motion • Riddling is a precise part of the traditional method, gradually guiding the lees sediment towards the neck of the bottle in preparation for disgorgement.
Through a carefully controlled sequence of turning and tilting, each bottle moves closer to clarity while preserving the character developed during its time on the lees.
A specialist technique, and one more considered step in the making of our Cap Classique.

A Fascination With Bubbles • The Graham Beck Cap Classique Story.
In early 1990, as Graham Beck prepared to turn its Cap Classique ambitions into reality, a young and ambitious winemaker arrived in Robertson. Pieter Ferreira came already captivated - a fascination with sparkling wine first sparked under Achim von Arnim, and one that would come to define his craft. At Graham Beck, that fascination found its purpose. "Bubbles got into my blood," he would later say, "and that journey continues today."

The First Green • Bud burst has arrived a little earlier in Robertson this year, with the first green shoots beginning to emerge across the vineyards.

Among them is a first for the Graham Beck Estate: our newly planted Pinot Blanc, now beginning its first growing season in Robertson.

It is one of the earliest markers of the vineyard cycle, as dormant buds open and the vines return to active growth. Every season moves at its own pace, and this one has started early, keeping our vineyard team close to the vines as a new chapter begins to take shape.
