This is an excellent contribution and she deals with the mock laughter from nonce-adjacent MSPs admirably. Perhaps instead of smearing every Reform member and MSP as "far-Right", the other parties should represent the views of their voters as accurately as she does.
Sad to hear of the death of jazz legend Sonny Rollins at the age of 95. I am lucky to have been able to see the great man perform many years ago in Edinburgh.
An enjoyable read. I have high hopes for Kenny in this role. He’s full of ideas, has a great sense of humour and will bring a bit of dynamism to the job that has been missing.
He walks like Lee Evans, drinks Cointreau and lemonade. and has absolutely no filter. My @scotonsunday column on Holyrood’s clever and likeable new Presiding Officer, Kenny Gibson. Might he be the great reformer our parliament needs?: https://t.co/1a6uKBAFzJ
One for Holyrood #ScotPol anoraks: Nominations for the Scottish Parliament Corporate Body (SPCB) – accepted unanimously by MSPs.
Maggie Chapman (Green)
Jackie Dunbar (SNP)
Pauline McNeill (Labour)
Liam McArthur (Lib Dem)
Stephen Kerr (Conservative)
Graham Simpson (Reform UK)
Questions not being published in advance is the simplest reform available to the new PO and the one which could have the biggest impact - just so we don't hear two people read out scripts on Qs 4-7...
It's an honour and a privilege to be elected Presiding Officer @scotparl.
Congratulations to my two new Deputy Presiding Officers @ClareAdamsonSNP and @KatySClark.
We will work together on behalf of all Members at Holyrood.
MSPs Liam McArthur and Kenny Gibson will take part in an impromptu Presiding Officer hustings in Holyrood tomorrow. First time one has been held. Event organised by Stephen Kerr.
@Sibileen_O@ForWomenScot They sadly don’t know what that means - had plenty of time to find out.
@GrahamSreform I have a lot of time for as he listens but women’s rights aren’t like carbon credits that organisations buy to get a sticker - it critically matters that legislators understand details.
